Quality of Life

A sustainable Maui Nui that will move us toward island living is the direction we need to take. It encompasses the basic understanding that we live on a small island that is likened to our canoe. Our boundary is finite, our resources are limited and our survival is crucial. We are assembled upon this canoe with working hands, multiple disciplines and knowledge, proven skills and tested experiences and the inherent ability to be critical and innovative thinkers. Coupled with leadership and support, we are well provisioned to cross the horizons of challenge and change to ensure our survivability.

Maui Nui is our fleet of canoes. Water resources must be maintained, replenished and increased. Food must be grown and cultivated here for our people. Renewable energy resources of the sun, wind and sea must be harvested to meet our needs for power in our homes, businesses and modes of transportation. Integrating, planning and developing communities for living, working and playing are vital to our well-being, growth and sustainability.

We will have a global view, while we live locally. These are the collective components, tasks and challenges that are important to make Maui Nui the best place to live, work and pass forward.
